Long exposures on moving water
A ten-stop filter turns a nervous stream into something that looks like it's exhaling.
Start at base ISO, close to f/11, and let the filter do the work. Two to six seconds smooths ripples; thirty seconds and up turns waterfalls into fog of their own.
Keep it sharp
Tripod, mirror-up or electronic shutter, and a remote release. Wind in the trees will still ruin a frame, so I shoot bursts and keep the calmest one.
